Chapter 10
Entitlement

Privileges and Responsibilities

If we spent time to include in this book all the issues that are created from the general pool of the undeveloped conscious, we would never finish this book. But there are a handful of major subjects that we need to address because they serve to describe why an undeveloped conscious can lead society into ruin. At the most severe levels an undeveloped conscious defies even the most basic common sense as it applies to the welfare of fellow human beings. When a lack of basic common sense becomes indoctrinated into the systems that we design togovern our society, we establish problems of huge magnitude that grow so significantly and intrinsically that it becomes like a cancer invading every aspect of a society’s outlook on life. Once a corrupted system is so indoctrinated into our society, the vicious cycle and bleeding of this corruption into all aspects of society right down to how an individual grows, learns and perceives themselves is greatly affected. So let’s look at an issue society today has been plagued with to such an extent that it has catered to and implemented into its own set of rules and government...a sense of entitlement. Entitlement is a sore of our society today that is rampant in all social circles and as easily seen in wealthy circles as in poorer ones. Our society has come up with all sorts of solutions to pacify the sense of entitlement at all levels.  The results of these solutions can be seen through many obvious examples: our welfare system, our farming subsidizing program, our government pension programs, government bail-outs for wealthy institutions. A sense of entitlement can also be seen in just everyday things we do that we don’t easily recognize as entitlement.

However, when approaching a problem such as this, it is all too easy for one to become wrapped up in the details of a particular issue, so let’s look at the sense of entitlement from a general perspective. If the problem could be solved by working out the details we would gladly take that approach. Because the basic core of this problem and virtually every problem that plagues mankind is tied to the most significant truth available to us, it is one that every individual has heard but few realize the significance, the Golden Rule. Most people define the Golden Rule as “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.” We prefer an even purer definition: Love one another as yourself. There is a difference that many don’t comprehend regarding these two defintions. The first serves to establish that anything that you think and feel in your conscience is worthy of guiding of yourself and others. Those that realize the higher level concept that the second definition implies, realize that the only things worthy of feeling and being shared with others that can produce the highest level positive effect  originate through love. Those that do not see love as the ultimate guide toward living by this Golden Rule, rather use the results of their own lives as their guide regardless of the fact that they may have had certain fortunate circumstances. When they find themselves having what they need, it becomes easy for them to attribute their accomplishments to their own doing. In turn, they judge others through their own false sense of self-accomplishment. How does one define to themselves what the factors that comprise their world during their lifetime really means? Without a basis founded in logic, reasoning and faith, they are left to whatever futile devices they may try to utilize to make sense of who they are based on where they find themselves. This is the core of where people go wrong and find themselves defined according to their environments instead of according to their inner self. All manner of ills begin at this level including the sense of entitlement.

When one comes into existence it becomes easy for one to logically conclude that because they’re living there amongst that society, all should naturally be apportioned in a systematic way and each would then receive their share. The problem with this scenario lies in the fact that the individual who chooses to view things in this way has lumped their existence in physical form in with their environment. The idea of their subscription and commitment to the systems in place therein is automatic in that individual’s mind. Because the individual does not see the difference between residing in physical form and a conscious decision to enter into contractual obligations with collective entities the individual may become disillusioned. It is easy to falsely believe that one’s existence among others in society makes up the totality of their decision to go along with the agreements of the collective. Many other individuals accompany him while residing in the systems and think likewise. There is a disorder that develops in this system which cannot resolve itself based on further adjustments to the system itself. In other words, adding another body into the mix of society and allowing the assumption that the individual’s conscious commitment and adherence to the systems in place will automatically occur is foolish. What must be recognized is a system of government or human co-existence must actually be as a two-way contract as well as a mutual coexistence. With the contract comes certain rights and certain responsibilities. Those that have a sense of entitlement feel as though their bodily existence residing in space is evidence of their acceptance of the contract but it is not. This vital low-level confusion is responsible for the dysfunctional continued development of the systems in place today in our own country.

All that would have to happen is that the individual needs to realize that as he enters into society’s contractual rules, he agrees to be served as well as serve by all that that he enters into. This is the contractual obligation that an individual’s conscious must be willing to enter into in order to justify his entitlement. Most are not aware that this exists because it is a finer level conceptual idea that many have difficulty visualizing in their minds. If others care about others as they care about themselves, those very thoughts and feelings would naturally nurture the conscious’ ability to gain understanding over these concepts. But the tendency of human nature is to care for the self first with the idea that if all goes well they will have time to care for others later. Herein lies the problem.

It can be argued that the golden rule, whether you believe it was served to us through the creator, through the universe, through man or by other means is irrelevant. The Golden Rule holds the key to the proper functioning of things on this Earth. Because of this reason we believe that it is divinely given by God but you don’t need to believe that for its validity to remain intact. The bottom line is that those that feel entitled have lobbed onto the collective of others not through physical form but through accepting of contractual obligations and then feel as though they can have the rights and privileges without their fulfillment of their part of the contract. It is important that anyone developing their conscious look at things in this low level manner first and foremost because herein lies the truth. You can call it the middle way, you can call it the teachings of Jesus, you can call it the uniform submission to the good of mankind, you can call it the Universal way of establishing balance....but whatever you call it, make sure you understand it and why without it the entire system, whatever it may be, cannot work.

An individual who cannot or will not adapt to the contractual obligation of society’s mutual agreement, may find the means of survival on their own. The moment that this self-reliance is compromised when one does not accept any negative ramifications that result from not being part of society’s collective body, one must realize that they have signed on to the group collective. Consequently, they may receive the entitlements that society has agreed to bestow upon one another. By accepting these entitlements it is necessary for the individual to realize that they have consciously made the decisive move to accept society’s contractual obligations. When people feel entitled without reciprocal obligation, they serve as warning signs of our times and show the build-up of people who have not developed this portion of their conscious understanding. If you are among those who have developed your conscious to a level which can accurately see and understand this concept and find yourself in a position suitable for helping to redefine the systems that govern us, you must make your highest priority to work towards solutions based on this most important underlying truth.
